E3 Nintendo Direct Scheduled for June 11th

Nintendo has announced a date of June 11th for when their E3 Nintendo Direct will be aired. This Nintendo Direct will ‘provide updates about future Wii U games,’ with the next Smash Bros. Mario Kart and 3D Mario to be discussed and shown. The broadcast will begin at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET.

Destiny – Law of the Jungle Trailer

Activision and Bungie have released a new trailer for Destiny that features Gustavo Fring (Breaking Bad). The trailer, which is mostly CG, shows three of the guardians going up against a number of enemies while Fring tells the story of The Law of the Jungle.

A worldwide gameplay reveal is teased near the end of the video, which is now set to occur at E3 during the PlayStation Conference on June 10th.

Grand Theft Auto V Special Editions Revealed, Detailed

Rockstar has revealed the Special and Collector’s Editions for their highly anticipated title, Grand Theft Auto V. Both editions are now available for pre-order, but maybe check out what’s contained within both before you go and blindly pre-order it.

Need for Speed Rivals Announced for Current and Next-Gen Systems

EA has announced the next entry in the Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed Rivals. The game, developed by Ghosts Games (used to be EA Gothenburg), in collaboration with Criterion Games, is set to come to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 19th and Xbox One and PS4 later this year.

Need for Speed Rivals almost sounds like a fusion of ideas from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Need for Speed: Most Wanted, as it will also deal with the ongoing fight between cops and racers. While in the role of a racer, you’ll be behind the wheel of fast cars made for high speed racing and faster cop pursuits. Turbo boosts, jammers and EMPs are your tools of the trade, while Speedpoints are earned by driving without a car for the rules of the road and can then be used to unlock new cars and items.

Meanwhile, as a cop, you’ll work as part of a team to bust racers and get them off the road. The more people you take down, the higher you progress in rank, which results in better cars and tech. Shockwaves, roadblocks and helicopters are at your disposal while chasing down racers. In the single-player game, you’ll be able to easily switch between the two roles. Just in case you get an itch to call in a Helicopter while doing a race or want to let loose the Turbo while being a cop.

Need for Speed Rivals also takes Need for Speed: Most Wanted‘s Easy Drive feature and gives it an update with the new AllDrive. A feature that allows players to seamlessly change from playing solo to playing with others, to the point that your friends will/could show up in your game while you’re drifting around Redview County. Autolog makes a return as well, meaning the good ol’ spirit of competition and spending 45 mins trying to be a friend’s time will carry over from previous Need for Speed titles.

Upgradeable gadgets for both cops ad racers, customization options –including fresh paintjobs, liveries, custom license plates, rims, and decals– and more will be in Need for Speed Rivals; all powered by the Frostbite 3 Engine.

Pre-orders are being taken now and will give players access to the Ultimate Cop Car Pack, which contains the Nissan GT-R Black Edition, level 2 cop gadget technology and exclusive cop liveries.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition Getting Digital PC Release in July, Retail in August

Two years after its official release, NetherRealm and Warner Bros. Interactive have announced a PC release for the ‘Komplete’ edition of their 2011 Mortal Kombat title. In typical complete edition fashion, it’ll come with the Mortal Kombat game, all the DLC characters (Skarlet, Rain, Kenshi and Freddy Krueger), fifteen klassic skins and three klassic fatalities for Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile.

The Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition has a digital PC release date of July 3rd and will see a retail release at the later date of August 6th (August 2nd in Europe). High Voltage Software is the developer you have to thank for the PC port, so go do that.

PC Will Get Next-Gen Kinect in the Future

The next-gen Kinect system that comes packaged with every Xbox One may also see a PC release at some point in its future, reports Polygon.

When speaking to Ben Kilgore, the corporate vice president of interactive entertainment business at Microsoft, he confirmed that the Kinect will release for the PC ‘at some point down the line.’

As it stands right now, all Xbox One consoles will require the Kinect to be connected in order to function. When the Kinect does come to the PC, will Kinect enabled games refuse to function unless the camera is connected?

Xbox One Hard Drive Can Not Be Replaced By Users

It seems that many gamers have become irritated and even enraged by Microsoft’s new next generation console, the Xbox One, after a conference of talking about television shows, Skype and very little about actual games. The company also irritated gamers across the globe by saying that there will be a ‘fee’ for used games and even though they did not go into specifics about this scheme it was obvious to anyone that this wasn’t going to go down well.

So could things get any worse for Microsoft as we get closer to E3 and actually begin seeing some games on the new system? Well how about a non-removeable hard drive which can not be touched by users? Yup.
The Xbox One will come with a 500GB hard drive which will obviously fill up pretty quick as Microsoft plans to make you install each and every one of your titles to your new console allowing for fast access. Every cloud has a silver lining however and this one came from Microsoft senior director of product planning, Albert Penello, who spoke to Engadget and said that users can use external storage devices through the consoles USB 3.0 port to add extra memory if needbe.

Shantae Coming To 3DS 20th June

The wait for a Shantae virtual console release on the Nintendo 3DS has been a long one for fans of the series and after WayForward teased that an announcement would be coming soon for the title; fans have been waiting for any information they can get their hands on. Luckily, that information has arrived.

Shantae will be gracing the Nintendo 3DS’ Virtual Console store in all regions on the 20th June, with the following blog post wording it in ways to promote the game in all manner of directions from WayForward themselves:
“This beloved bit of gaming history was previously only available in North America. Not this time! Shantae will be making appearences in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand; wherever good times are had. Unfortunately we will not be able to announce a specific release date (June 20th) at this time. Check back angrily and often at www.wayforward.com to discover the Shantae’s secret release date (that’s June 20th) in the days and weeks ahead. See you on June 20th!”
