Pokémon XY Anime Promo Reveals New Characters

Pokémon XY Anime Promo Reveals New Characters

A promotional video posted on TV Tokyo’s YouTube Channel earlier today reveals some of the new characters in Pocket Monsters XY, which will run under the title Pokémon the Series: XY in America.

First up are the brother-sister duo of Citron (Clemont in English) and Eureka (Bonnie in English) voiced by Yuki Kaji and Mariya Ise, respectively. Citron is a Gym Leader as well as an inventor — which explains his large glasses and enormous backpack.

Also introduced is Serena, voiced by Mayuki Makiguchi, who appears to know Satoshi (Ash) from before even the original Pokémon series. Is it just me, or does that flashback sequence almost seem a little romantic? Serena is based on the playable female protagonist of the X & Y games.

The official Japanese anime website has also been updated with a new poster and character profiles. Note the inclusion of Mega Lucario and Mega Blaziken at the top of the poster, suggesting that Mega Evolutions will be prominently featured at some point in the series, as they are in the X & Y video games.

Are you interested in the new Pokémon series?
